Anne mentors from her home in Wellington Point, Queensland – in person for those who live locally or on Zoom for those who live and work further afield. The frequency of mentoring will vary with your needs but a minimum of four times per year is recommended to sustain a good mentoring relationship.
Mentoring will usually begin with you sharing something of your life story with Anne—but no more than you feel comfortable with. Trust takes time to grow. Anne will also tell you a little about herself and answer any questions you might have. At either the first or second meeting Anne will ask you about any specific goals for mentoring. These might include...
Getting to know God and yourself more deeply
Growing in Christian maturity
Discerning God’s path for you
Developing in your ministry
Further sessions will focus on such goals but also provide opportunities to reflect on the whole of your life— home and work, key relationships, and habits of the spirit, mind and body. Anne will listen to you carefully and prayerfully. She will reflect to you what she hears and seek to encourage, challenge, and resource you as you grow. In the case of urgent need for contact between sessions Anne will seek to be generous with her time but her availability will not be unlimited.
From time to time (once to twice yearly) you and Anne will review your mentoring journey. You will be asked to reflect on what you are finding helpful about your mentoring sessions and how Anne might serve you better. She will also offer some reflections on how she sees the process unfolding. But please feel free to provide feedback or ask questions at any time.
Professional supervision has been a source of support for those in the helping professions for many years. More recently, it has become apparent that the complexity of Christian ministry deserves and requires a similar level of professional support. Such support includes such functions as restorative care for times when ministry has been challenging or draining, formative encouragement for continued growth in ministry, and opportunities to reflect on healthy boundaries and respectful approaches to our work.
During your first meeting, Anne will be interested to hear something of your personal and ministry background, and the context in which you now work.
You’ll then take some time to work through the details of your Supervision Covenant (contract) which will provide clear expectations of the processes and direction of your supervision.
Where there are denominational or organizational expectations of your supervision, these will be discussed and clarified. You will need to provide Anne with an electronic copy of the Code of Ethics under which you minister.
Subsequent sessions will provide opportunity to reflect on all that is associated with your ministry. You should aim to bring a specific issue to each session. These might include events or relationships which have encouraged, challenged or raised questions for you. While your personal responses to these will be key to understanding and growing in ministry, you will be encouraged to deal with more personal issues through other means of support.
From time to time (once to twice yearly) we will review your supervision journey. You will be asked to reflect on what you are finding helpful about your supervision sessions and any ways in which Anne might serve you better. She will also offer some reflections on how she sees the process unfolding.

Anne provides supervision from her home in Wellington Point, Queensland – in person for those who live locally or on Zoom for those who live and work further afield. The frequency of your supervision sessions will depend on the requirements of your church, denomination or employing organisation, and your own preference, but fewer than four sessions per annum do make a good supervisory relationship more difficult to build and sustain.
